The Utimate Answer is 42, and the Ultimate question is obviously: How Old is Sti today?

Yup, my birthday. I still recall when 30 was unimaginably old, and now its so far behind me that its headlights are the merest glimmer.

I don't have anything huge planned for today. I've decided my biggest present is going to be not counting carbs. I'll be going out to supper later with [livejournal.com profile] taxlady and Terry, and might well have cake for desert.

Right now though, its time for breakfast -- I'm thinking sugar cubes with honey on them.

Uh, ewww. Maybe not.

Happy birthday, Stirling! Did you know that the "sugar cubes with honey" is from an old Peanuts cartoon? "They're good with cinnamon, too!".

Kids do the darndest things! I've been tempted to try the sugar cubes with honey, but have never gotten around to it. When I was little, I figured that a slice of Kraft cheese with margarine on it might go well together (since they were both in that color region of the spectrum -- the margarine we had was very yellow in colour), but my mother did not approve when she saw me trying it. I read that when my grandfather (father's father) was little, he wanted a toy wagon, but the only box the right size in the work room held grease. "Well, it will have to be emptied. I start removing the grease and wiping it under the table, but there is such a confounded lot of it." (translated from Low German by my father) He was caught with grease all over everything in the work room, including all over himself. His mother turned him over her knee. All he wanted was a toy wagon (http://www.geocities.com/WiebeJHLFamily/Father/bookcovs.htm).
