1. What bill do you hate paying the most?
Any spurious "just because we can" tax bill, like that damned welcome tax.

2. What's the best place to eat a romantic dinner?
I prefer somewhere with rich wood finishes, low lighting, good food and wine. Someplace where one wants to linger after the meal.

3. Last time you puked from drinking?
Never have.

4. When is the last time you got drunk and danced on a bar?
Never have.

5. Name of your first grade teacher?
I THINK that was Mrs. Letts but that might have been 2nd grade.

6. What do you really want to be doing right now?
Um. This. Otherwise, I'd be doing that. To explain: right now I'm doing my normal wake-up routine involving LJ, coffee and (shortly) a shower. AFTER that I would prefer to find myself somewhere exotic with exciting things to do, but even if I was vacationing in the French Riviera, at this point in my sleep/wake cycle I would want to be messing around on LJ.

7. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I always assumed I'd be a research scientist of some type. For the longest time I pursued a career in nuclear physics.

8. How many colleges did you attend?
Just Concordia.

9. Why did you wear the shirt that you have on right now?
Its the shirt I wear to bed at night so as to keep my right shoulder from getting cold and cramping up. (I never used to wear shirts to bed, but lately that shoulder complains bitterly for days if it gets cold air on it.) Since I've yet to have my shower and get dressed, I'm still wearing it.

10. GAS PRICES! First thought?
Very high and a royal pain to someone on a very fixed income as I am, but overall I think they will be a good thing. Lots of interesting research is now being done on alternative energy which wouldn't be funded if prices were lower.

11. If you could move anywhere and take someone with you...
There are many places I might want to go and live for a while. Right now I would love to live in Copenhagen with taxlady for a few years. I've been (semi-)actively looking into the prospects of doing just that lately.

12. First thought when the alarm went off this morning?
It was something about not being ready to give up the dream I was having which seemed to be quite pleasant and involved large amounts of random sex. Alas, except for that vague impression, it has now mostly faded.

13. Last thought before going to sleep last night?
Hard to recall. I THINK it was about strange alien races I might want to write about in the august_writing community today, but all of the details have faded as well.

14. Favorite style of underwear?
Have no idea what they're called. They're bigger than briefs but not baggy like boxers. They're also the first underwear I've worn where I was willing to go pantsless at a party, as I wouldn't end up inadvertantly flashing someone in them.

15. Favorite style of underwear for the opposite/same sex?
No real preference. Whatever looks sexy on the person in question.

16. What errand/chore do you despise?
I'm not fond of cleaning the cat box. Luckily that's one of taxlady's chores, so I seldom have to do it. I used to really hate washing the dishes, but now we have a dishwasher, so its not an issue.

17. If you didn't have to work, would you volunteer at an art gallery?
Talk about a random question! How about "No, why on Earth would you expect me to?" as an answer. If I was rich I might well volunteer my time but I can think of many, many, many causes higher up my list than that.

18. Get up early or sleep in?
Both. I really like having had a long drawn-out sleep and getting up at 4:00 am while the city is still asleep. I get the most done on such days. The trouble is, my sleep cycles are so random that its very hard to achieve.

19. What is your favorite cartoon character?
Hard to say. I'm a big fan of cartoons. Many of the early Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck cartoons have a big place in my heart, with Daffy having the slight edge, I would think. (I'm not a fan of what's being done with him lately though.)

20. Favorite NON sexual thing to do at night with a woman/man?
I love to cuddle up with someone and do some combined activity. Not watch a movie or TV though, as that distracts me from my companion. Crossword puzzles, are a good bet, as is just talking and sipping wine.

21. Your favorite lunch meat?
It varies. Usually I would say Summer Sausage but right now its Sopressata.

22. What do you get every time you go into Costco?
We have a fair list of staples we get there. One of the most common is their sausages as they have one brand which contains no fillers whatsoever so that the sausages have zero net carbs. I can eat as many as I like on my diet. It means when I'm at my carb limit for the day and I get hungry, there's always something I can eat.

23. Beach or lake?
How is this an either/or choice? My earliest memories of the Okanagan valley in BC is swimming in the lake and lounging on its sandy beaches. If the question is about lake/ocean, then I guess its ocean, but it depends where of course. I would not want to laze on the 'beaches' of Iceland while many of those in Australia are very nice.

24. Do you think marriage is an outdated ritual that was invented by people who died at 20?
Not outdated no, but its purpose is changing. Many of my friends were surprised when I decided to go the whole marriage route, rather than just live with someone. My reason was more of wanting to have an official and public celebration where I stood up and said: "This is IT! I have finally found the RIGHT PERSON!" I would happily dispense with the legal and religious aspects of that though.

25. Who do you stalk on MySpace?
I do have an account, but I never log in. I got one to check it out, found it was awful and don't go back.

26. Favorite guilty pleasure?
Eating out.

27. Favorite movie you wouldn't want anyone to find out about?
If I didn't want anyone to know about it, why would I answer this question?

28. What's your drink?
My usual drink is wine, because its lower carb than many others. If I'm going for something harder then I'm more likely to go for a cocktail like a Mai Tai, long-island iced tea, banana daquiri or the like. I also have a great fondness for saki, but almost never have any.

29. What Hollywood star do you think resembles you best?
Never thought of it. Dan Haggerty (sp?) of Grizzly Adams?

30. What do you want when you are sick?
The foods I want when I am sick are either Pizza (if I'm eating) or Scotch Broth soup (possibly with grilled-chese sandwiches). I don't count carbs when I'll, but then again I don't eat much either. Other than that, I usually just want to lay somewhere warm and read or watch TV.

31. Who from high school would you like to run into?
Several folks. Angela Lee is probably highest on the list, but I would love to meet Jenny Lin, Colleen LeMay or Eve Shea again.

32. What radio station is your car radio tuned to right now?
Its usually tuned to the 940 AM for traffic and news, although the station has really gone downhill lately.

33. Worst relationship mistake that you wish you could take back?
My worst mistakes have all been of the not-having-a-relationship-at-all kind when someone was interested in me, but I didn't figure it out in time. That's actually why I wrote this story, the other day.

34. Do you like the person who sits directly across from you at work?
Nope. I've almost never had someone sit directly across from me at work, and the few times someone has, it has bothered me immensely. I FAR prefer my own office in which I can think without being distracted by other's antics.

35. If you could get away with it, who would you kill?
I don't think there's any real progress that could be made in this world by killing any one person. They're never alone in their sickness and another would just take their place.

36. What famous person would you like to have dinner with?
I would have loved to have known Richard Feynman.

37. What famous person would you like to sleep with?
Since I don't actually know any famous people, it would have to be based entirely on sex appeal. In that case it could be any one of dozens of porn stars or actresses that I've felt lust for.

38. Have you ever had to use a fire extinguisher for its intended purpose?
Nope. I have one haning in the kitchen, but I've never needed it yet.

39. Last book you read for real?
As opposed to what? The last book I finished was the 1200 page monstrosity known as "The Road to Reality." I'm currently halfway through papersky's "The Prize in the Game."

40. Do you have a teddy bear?
Yes, a huge one 4' high. Its for sale though, as it never gets hugs here any more, so it needs a new home.

41. Somewhere in California you've never been and would like to go?
Uh. That's hard to say. I've got friends in San Diego and would love to visit, and I have in-laws in L.A. I'm also very fond of San Francisco, but I've already BEEN to all of those places. Maybe Death Valley. That's in California, isn't it? Its not like I'm likely to have a map of some random US State in my head. I mean, off the top of your head, what cities in the Venezualan state of Carabobo would you most like to visit?

42. Number of texts in a day?
Meaning WHAT? Text messaging by cell phone? .00001 or something. I mean I think I've ever sent about a dozen, and I've had a cell phone for 5 years...

43. At this point in your life would you rather start a new career or relationship?
Career, for sure. I have a wonderful relationship.

44. Do you go to church?
Nope. I don't have any interest in organized spirituality.

45. How many jobs have you had?
I dunno. Twenty or so. I've long since passed the point of needing to pad my resume and nowadays I need to prune it severely.

46. What do you want to achieve in life?
I want to make as lasting and positive an impression on the world as I can, for as long as I can.
