Gee, but I like waking up to azrhey in my inbox. Um, that didn't come out quite right, but its morning so I think I'll let it stand rather than trying to make it more coherent. In any case, it seems like the lady has finally gotten ADSL at her new place, so she should be around a bit more.

Of course she first has 5 weeks worth of LJ to read and favorite TV shows to download...

Not just ADSL, but ADSL2+! Up to 24 Mbps! Whee!!!

It's pretty cool, actually, it's so fast that they integrated Illico-style digital TV and telephone in the deal. Videotron and a few others are doing the telephone in Canada, but other than Videotron which also sells Illico sort of separately, there's no TV. Also, the "modem" (that is rented as part of the monthly fee) has all of this integrated (with a normal remote control), as well as a wireless router.

Oh yeah, that's right! _hub was telling me about that at some point. He worked with some of the companies providing the compute infrastructure for all of that.

Yeah, he worked for free.fr, if I recall, which is my provider. They're definitely not perfect, but the general thing is quite a bit better than what's available in Canada, and for not too expensive either (30 euros a month gives you the full speed Internet, a bunch of basic channels and telephone service, including free calls to Canada), and I do not have to pay France Telecom (their Bell) for the basic line (on the other hand, I don't have a "real phone number", if the Freebox goes nuts, no phone for me)).
