Well, the days pretty much over, and I'm thinking of going to bed soon, but I thought I'd stop and post something here first. I slept something like 12 hours last night, and I may well do the same tonight. I think my body is trying to fight off a cold or something. Ever since [livejournal.com profile] metawidget's party, my GI tract has not been as happy as it should be. Otherwise I feel fine.

Still for the last few days I've come to the end of the day and really felt like working on my NaNoWriMo novel from last year, but I'm usually way too tired. Yesterday I wrote a Perl script to convert CSV files to QuickBooks IIF while processing data for one of [livejournal.com profile] taxlady's clients. Its not fully debugged yet, but that's mainly because large parts of the IIF format is unspecified and [livejournal.com profile] taxlady is having to experiment to see what works and what doesn't. Today she discovered that having two different tax codes in one transaction record can crash Quickbooks, so tomorrow I'll modify my program to not do that. Anyway, by the time I was done I was ready to crash although I also wanted to write.

What I had originally planned to do yesterday was install an air conditioner in the guest bedroom since we have a guest using said bedroom and it can be a sauna, but the Perl thing took all day, so today was A/C day. The big difficutly with that was that I had to build a window sill platform to hold the A/C, just like the one for my office. This involved measuring, cutting and screwing bits of 2x4 together, not something I'm particularly good at. Still, I built it, and it works. Then the A/C got installed (although I got a nasty scrape on my right arm in doing so.)

What with that, as well as cooking lunch and doing some other household chores, the day really raced past. It didn't help that there were a number of interruptions today whenever I got some momentum on the project, and I would have to take the time to collect myself and think carefully about what I was doing. That's because the physical exertion of building the platform and wrestling with the air conditioner in this weather quickly got me overheated and exhausted. I know that in that condition I don't think straight and tend to make stupid mistakes. So whenever anything interrupted my train of thought, I had to stop and slowly pick up my mental pieces.

So, now that I've spent a couple of hours winding down and cooling off, bed is starting to sound like a really good idea. Althought I STILL would like to spend a few minutes writing the next bit of that novel...
