I haven't posted much lately. Mostly I've just had my head down doing some studying. I did manage to get out downtown on Thursday though, and had lovely times with kalkuly and kyotto. I also got to the BNAQ and managed to take out "The Road To Reality" by Penrose, and the "How Building's Learn" book that grimmwire recommended some time ago.

So, I've got reading stuff I can do, and taxlady and I shall shortly head downtown for our monthly transhumanist meetup. Didn't go the last two months due to schedule conflicts and the month before that, we were the only ones who showed up, so its been a while.

Don't have much else to say. I would love to go to the museum day events tomorrow with folks, but I don't really see it happening. Sunday's its a 2 hour trip downtown, which means getting up at 4:00 am if I'm going to eat breakfast before meeting folks at 8:30 am. NOT LIKELY!

That's yet another reason why I wish I lived downtown. *grumph*

Idea: Rent out your current house, and move (closer to the) downtown?

Its being seriously considered. There are problems that would have to be overcome first.

(not trying to be too cute - I really just don't see the problem with finding a place downtown and renting out your current place)

Our current place is not rentable. It still needs to have major repairs done on two bathrooms and one dining room before there would be any chance. Then there's the issue of paying the rent on the new place, as the rent from this place would pay the mortgage here but wouldn't leave much left over.

There are other impediments in the way of fixing the place up that need to be taken care of first as well. *sigh*

My Mom has offered to help with some of this, but we haven't worked out the details yet (she's too busy getting ready to move to Cornwall).
