I just got a call-back. From Google. Zürich. They're interested. Of course, that just means I've passed stage one of an N-stage process. Next my CV gets passed around to the software development division and they kick at it for a while. I was told not to expect any feedback for at least another 2 weeks.

The whole process, if I even get accepted, can take months so I'm not holding my breath. But it does qualify as a good sign in my books.

Yup, I would move to Zurich for a job with Google. I've recently been thinking that I could really do with the change of pace that would come from living and working in Europe for 5 years or so. (Heh, one benefit of getting older is that a 5-year commitment now seems like short-term planning.)

We would be close enough to Copenhagen there that we could make occasional trips to see taxlady's family and to deal with getting the family condo fixed up. The money from working with Google is bound to be decent as well.

I don't quite know if I would sell this place though. We might just put the majority of our stuff in storage, have the place cleaned up, and rent it out. Of course, this is all getting ahead of things. I don't have the job yet, and I have no good way of knowing what my chances are. I'm sure they've got truckloads of applications for each opening they have.

Wow! Here's hoping for the best. I guess taxlady'll have to figure out a new set of accounting rules, or maybe take some time off while you get the big bucks at google. ;-) Good luck!
