So, once more, I have no mail server. Send mail to swestrup AT gmail DOT com for the time being.

You know, I can count on one hand the number of times I've been unable to get windows to boot. With linux, its every time I change anything in the boot chain, at all.

*sigh*

I shall now go back to reading through the LILO docs to try to figure out why my raid no longer boots.

But, dude, isn't that because in Wondows you can't change anything in the boot chain? It doesn't seem to have support for RAID other than hardware RAID. It's true that it can be launched from a 2rd party boot manager, more or less (I say 'more or less' because I'm not at this point aware of any way of supplanting the MS boot manager, even if you can arrange to chain to it), but you have to fight it a lot to get this working, and it takes much doing to get compatible partition tables - and it relies on non-Windows tools to make that work, too, no matter what MS's published 'documentation' may say about their disk formats. And they took DOS away. And they tried really hard to take the recovery console away - IIRC after going to SP2 I had to get a new recovery console from you, which you got from god-knows-where, just so that there's any remote chance of ever rebooting again, should something go wrong.

I'd have said Linux, for all its faults, was much better.

Yeah, I know, it's like saying Canada is better than the US.

They both suck.

But if you messed with Windows in the ways you mess with Linux, I don't think the smoke would ever clear. Am I mad?
