I've been getting very tired of the extreme low carb diet I've been on for a few weeks now. This last week I've also noticed feeling out-of-sorts and unwilling to do anything. I just ate a HUMONGOUS salad and suddenly I feel much better. Maybe I haven't been getting enough greens. I've been taking vitamins, and have had mixed veggies several times this week, but I guess I musta been missing something my body wanted.

Maybe I'll be able to get something done tomorrow then. Its kinda late to start on anything tonight.

I've become suspicious of "low [X]" diets myself. Low carb especially: apparently the idea is that it puts your body into a starvation-like state, and you know that can't be good...

There may be some truth to the idea that there are 'good' carbs and 'bad' carbs (and 'good' fats and 'bad' fats, etc), but overall I fear there's no getting away from the basics: eat less, exercise more.

Sometimes raw fruits and veggies do the trick and cooked ones don't. Some SoCalifornians have predictably taken this to a ridiculous level and eat nothing but raw foods now. That vegan Asian place we went to with [personal profile] taxlady has a raw foods menu.

When I was at Ft. Lee (aaaaagh, she's telling Army stories again!) there were hardly any decent vegetables. Everything was canned and the salad bar was a joke. When I got back, I resolved to eat lots and lots of fresh fruit and have been doing so to good effect.

Oops, better wind this up and make the stew for tonight.
