One thing to do about your paint dilemma if you happen to be downtown is to go consult the very friendly and knowledgeable people at City Paint (200 Rachel East). They should be able to enlighten you as to your options much better than some minimum-wage high school kid at Home Depot - these people are to paint what you or I are to computers.
While you're there, you could pick up the supplies they recommend, if you enjoy supporting small local paint stores (which I do, since my brother worked at one for several years). But one way or the other, you should know unequivocably where you stand.
