That's what the doctor called it any way. A temporary blockage in one of my inner ear canals. How temporary? The Doc says it will clear itself up in anywhere from a few days to THREE FRICKIN WEEKS!  Man, I hope it clears up faster than that!

She said it could be caused spontaneously by the creation of a crystal. I don't have any of the symptoms of a bacterial infection.

Oh fun. I had a bout of the viral labyrinthitits (how fitting, considering the name), a couple of years back. It took well over a month for mine to clear up completely. To this day, I never feel quite confortable with balancing acts that used to be second nature. I hope yours isnt as severe, and goes away much more quickly.

I had a blockage in my right ear for about three weeks. I mentioned it offhand when I was talking to my chiropractor, and he was able to correct it with one calculated tug on my ear.

Unfortuneately, its my inner ear, so tugging won't work. Although it does turn out that there are some medical maneuvers of the head which can be used to dislodge the crystal and reposition it somewhere less critical. I gather they do that when the crystal refuses to be reabsorbed into the body.
