I just checked out this online bandwidith meter.

It gave me results of 1424.6 kbps, almost up to T1 speed! Now, I'm actually supposed to clock in at 3000 kbps, which is T1x2, but these things can only be so accurate, when they're done over the internet, using some unknown number of hops between me and them.

3529.4 kbps on my end
how is that even possible?

Hm, averages out to about 1650ish, though the first two were right slow. Hmm. I should be at 5000ish, which the local DSL provider recently upgraded all accounts towards.

download, not upload.

with a T1 you get symetrical downstream and upstream bandwidth.

The bandwidth they sell you is beetween you and the ISP. The test is done from outside the ISP network, which means there is a bottleneck somewhere.

No that you can't do 1.5 upstream with DSL. Just that they don't allow you to do it. I France you can get 8Mbits/2Mbits for 30EUR/month.

I register ay 3434.3, supposedly a little faster than a T1.
