The new air conditioner doesn't fit in the window. Well, actually, it does fit. It just doesn't have any reason not to fall out the window. All of the attachment hardware that came with it assumes a radically different shape of window.

Yes, that is what I discovered with mine.

I did some drilling and jerry-rigging to mount it. You will probably have to do the same to yours.

Good luck!

Well, good lord, man, if you can't see fit to upgrade your Windows every few years, how can you expect a modern air conditioner to be compatible?

Warmest sympathies,
stephen

Stephen, dear chap, it is already too warm for those kinds of sympathies.

Oh, is it warm? I thought I had melted as a natural part of my life cycle.

I guess it would explain the flaming vegetation outside my window.

Strange planet, this, they should never let all that oxygen run around free. And with a yellow sun! Dumb, dumb, dumb.

...I'm off to find more of that burnt hydrogen to drink.

I had no problem with mine. $99 and easy to put on.

My window was already drilled.

aye, but if you get the hot fix, it'll work fine...

*snickers*

p.s. did you not measure the window first?

Actually, it wasn't the special :(

Which way to do your windows open? Sideways or up and down? Ours go sideways.

up/down... fairly idiot proof windows... I could try to open them sideways... but I suspect they don't move that way...

but I suspect they don't move that way... LOL

That kind of windows are easier, if you have the horizontal mount air conditioner. The vertical mount ones are much harder to find and more expensive, here on the Island. Near Cornwall, Ontario, where my brother-in-law lives, it is harder to find the horizontal mount kind that he needs.

This sounds like the job for a roll or two of duct tape. Now that's what I call attachment hardware!
