Todays plan eventually fell through, and has been rescheduled for Friday. No knowing if it will or will not happen then, but we'll see.

As a result I mainly sat around today waiting for stuff that never happened. Didn't get much done as a result.

One thing I did notice while sitting around are the little manerisms that I've borrowed from my friends. There are some things I find myself trying to say just the same way that [livejournal.com profile] azrhey does. There are other things that I try to say in a [livejournal.com profile] thebabynancy style. There are also a few mannerisms that I seem to have borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] _sps_.

Most of the time, I'm not aware of these things, sometimes I am. I noticed a week or two ago that I have finally broken the habit of making my script capital I's so that they are indistinguisable from the letters "cl". That is a mannerism I picked up when I first learned to make the letter. I started out doing it the correct way, and then noticed that my girlfriend at the time ("Shelly Treeder" is how I remember her name, but that was many years ago and it may well have gotten garbled) was making them like little 'cl's and that was easier, so I copied her. Many years later I tried to break myself of the habit, but couldn't. Its only because I haven't really used longhand in close to 20 years now that I find I can break the habit.

It does make me wonder how many other habit and gestures I've picked up from my friends over the years that I don't know about. I also have to wonder if other folks find themselves borrowing their friends gestures. I know catch-phrases seem to propagate that way, but do other things as well?
