Some predictions SHOULDN'T come true.
Dec. 30th, 2004 02:07 pmYears ago, as part of the background work for a 30's style space opera roleplaying game (ray guns, martians, lumbering robots, computers larger than buildings, etc) I decided that there was a huge backbone highway running the vertical length of North America. Starting in the far north of Canada and ending somewhere in Mexico. It would be a huge number of lanes, with special access requirements for some of them. Thus there would be minimum 150 mph lanes, there would be emergency vehicle lanes only, etc, etc.
Now Texas has proposed building a 1/4 mile wide highway down its length that sounds eerily similar in scope. I haven't checked the site too carefully yet, but if they decide to have mobile restaurants and hotels that one can dock your vehicle to, I think I'm gonna sue.
