Check out this nifty website with color scans of old SF book covers and snarky comments about what must have been going on. Fun and educational too!

Hi Stirling,

Here's another off-point question: I wonder if you know what the
"AC" stands for in "C/AC/SEARCH", which is the label of the
bottom right-hand button of the Casio Databank wristwatch. I just
got a fresh battery for mine, which prompted me to review the
owner's manual and refamiliarize myself with everything the watch
can do, but my reading didn't find the possible meaning of that
acronym.

Do you still have your watch? I got a new one for myself back in
1997 which is the one I have now. The old one you gave me wore
out back then.

Best regards,
-Jim

I don't know about fancy computer-watch hybrids, but I know my old Casio calculator had "C" for "Clear" and "AC" for "All Clear", which IIRC also clobbered all the stored values in memory.
