Yesterday was a most hectic day, with much cleaning (and much cleaning help from [livejournal.com profile] azrhey) and running about getting things ready for the big dinner.

Things went very well although (of course) some chores didn't get done and some things were forgotten, but in the end I think everyone had a good time, not in small part due to the wonderful friends I have.

This morning I got up and was just thinking of checking to see if the coffee was made (it wasn't -- [livejournal.com profile] taxlady got up the same time I did but hadn't noticed I was awake, so hadn't hit the all-important button, while I had assumed she had seen me), when the power cut out. I guess with the intense cold we got today everyone had their heaters going full blast and Hydro couldn't keep up. Luckily we still have 3 cups worth of luke-warm coffee in the thermos from the night before, so we survived the 30-45 minutes it took before the power came back.

Mostly what I did today was clean up after the party. Loads of dishes sent through the washemupatron later, and things are looking pretty good. Actually, even at full after-dinner mess the place looked cleaner than it has in years. Now its even much more better. Right now I'm feeling pretty mellow and happy (and rather full as I've been munching all day).

Its been especially happy munching since [livejournal.com profile] taxlady and I are not being too strict on the Atkins thing this week, which probably means there'll be some catch-up to do in the new year, but the diet is going well enough that I'm not terribly concerned about that.
