Today I sat down to finally write some essays I've been meaning to, or at least to start. I'm working on the introduction and it may be the hardest part. It needs to be concise and readable and to link together several seemingly unrelated ideas, and to do so in a way that convinces a number of very different target readers that the essays that follow are worth reading. Progress is slowly being made, but my forehead has become wet, and I'm afraid to look in the mirror.

One of the good things I got with me from my (half) ph.d. position was an article one of the professors gave me. It's about writing good introductions.

Unfortunately I only have it in hard copy so I can't just link you to it. But if you'd like a copy I can try to see if my scanner still works. It won't be until some time this weekend, though...
