swestrupI've come to the realization that I don't much bother to post the day-to-day stuff that I do, because its boring day-to-day stuff. On the other hand, one of the prime reasons I joined LJ was so I would have a future record of what I was doing at such-and-such a time. If I don't record the boring stuff, it'll be forgotten (and what I find boring now may be of interest to me later...)
So, for the last couple of days I've been researching EI benefits. It turns out there is an additional EI supplement that one can apply for if one is trying to start a business while on EI. At least, theoretically there is. I have been able to find out that Employment Canada has turned the running of the program in Quebec over to Emploi-Quebec, who make no mention of it. So yesterday I stopped at the local CLE which is supposed to be able to answer questions on things like this. The information desk wasn't occupied. Sooo, I'm currently downloading PDF brochures that might be relevant. Several have mentioned the program but most have said that further information is available at the local CLE... Sure it is. Oh well, I know that this is all part of the game the Government plays to reduce the number of folks who manage to apply for any given benefit, so I'm not giving up yet.
Meanwhile, as I type this Shrederik is watching what I call the 'birdie show'. There is an eavestrough that runs below the window of my office, and birds often collect there to fight over seeds washed into the trough. Shreddy sits quietly on the desk beside the window and watches. Well, occasionally he leaps at the window with all claws out and crashes into the screen... but mostly he watches.
