Long Day.

Actually, I haven't really been up all that long, but it sure FEELS like it.

Today I got up at noon, as usual, grabbed some coffee, as usual and started reading my e-mail, comics and newsites, as usual. Around the time I got to slashdot I decided it was time to grab some breakfast, as usual.

I got downstairs, made said breakfast and decided to take a moment to look up some omelet recipes to read while eating. I was halfway through that when the phone rang. It was an old friend who wanted to chat for a bit, so we did. Halfway through the conversation [livejournal.com profile] taxlady told me she was heading out to the store and would be right back. In fact, she returned just moments after I finished the conversation. She then asked me if I could get dressed and help with a few chores.

These ended up including:
  • restacking tires so we could get to our washer and dryer
  • restacking boxes in our bedroom so I could get to the huge (overflowing) laundry hamper
  • Hauling the hamper downstairs.
  • Sorting through the hamper for things that needed to get done in the first load (socks, underwear, etc).
  • Helping to find our gardening tool box in the basement.
  • Hauling our BBQ stand, tables and chairs out of the back yard.
  • Pulling down the huge overgrown jungle in our back yard.
  • Finding the mattock and using it to break up sod and dirt so as to be able to plant a miniscule herb patch.
  • Refilling the hole we made, sans rocks.
  • Hauling all our stuff BACK into the back yard.
  • Helping dig ingredients out of the fridge so we could make supper.
I then lay on the couch like a zombie while [livejournal.com profile] taxlady did the actual cooking and other food prep. By the time we ate it was 11:00 pm.
After supper I headed back upstairs and discovered I was still only halfway through reading slashdot...

Now, I should point out that the above list was just from my perspective. [livejournal.com profile] taxlady's was just as long and included helping with most of the above plus cooking supper, plus doing a load of laundry plus (arguably) the trip to the store. So, right now the two of us are exhausted. I wouldn't normally be going to bed yet for another 2 or 3 hours, but right now I think I won't have trouble falling asleep.

On the other hand, I feel like I got a bunch of stuff accomplished today.
