Food Thoughts.

I've been thinking again about doing a food database right. Now, after a bunch of checking, I have found someone who's close: CalorieKing. This site seems to be mostly a vehicle for using all of the recipies developed by the Family Health group, but they've also got nutritional information on lots of fast food. So, they haven't taken the idea anywhere near as far as I have, but they have a huge database which helps, and they let you search it for total carbs or total cholesteral in a meal. They are willing to license their DB, but I doubt they would allow it to be augmented and given away freely, and that is probably what would happen with my system. Reading through their stuff, it also seems that they are really interested in Copyright issues. Now, that may (or may not) be a problem as I want a system that can do theme's and variations on recipes, and will be happy to give sources and attributions. I'm not sure that will be sufficient. Maybe I should check out the wikipedia for their copyright policy, since my system is envisioned as being similar.
