So far today I've:

1. Woken up
2. Phoned the bank and got them to sell some shares that their internet banking system wouldn't let me sell.
   
3. Went shopping for groceries with taxlady.
4. FINALLY managed to finish downloading about 700 Cartoon Voice clips that I foolishly enqueued in WinMX about 2 years ago...
5. Eaten chicken.

So, I'm feeling somewhat accomplished. #2 makes me feel good since it involved phoning someone I don't know (a real phobia of mine) and #4, because it will have the largest impact on my quality of living. Trust me on that one :-)

Sounds a lot like my day! I've woken up, I'm about to do some internet banking (bills), I may eat chicken today and I need to go grocery shopping. LOL!

I had no idea you had a phobia about calling strangers! Why is that?

Why does anyone have strange fears? The best explanation I've ever come up with is to blame my mother! She was awfully protective and always told me to be wary of strangers. I took it to heart. What she never explained is how anyone is ever supposed to STOP being a stranger if you refuse to talk to them.

Another way of looking at it is that I am just naturally shy. I've always very much disliked meeting or dealing with someone I don't already know unless I'm surrounded by my friends. I have gotten MUCH better over the years, but I still find that cold calling someone is the hardest thing for me to do. Unless I know exactly what the possible directions the conversation can take are, I get very nervous. At least I don't have trouble buying groceries or shopping for clothes, but if I have to buy something with which I'm not familiar enough to know what it is that I should know before buying it, I get nervous again.

I hear ya! I was like that when I was a child, but as I got older I guess I grew out of it. But that's me. There are lots of people out there who feel the same way you do.

One of the reasons that I like the internet is to meet people I otherwise probably would never get the chance to in real life! *smile*
