Immunity to Heat.
May. 24th, 2007 08:50 pmDuring the last, brief, spate of warm weather we had, I switched the A/C in the bedroom from 'fan' mode to 'cool' mode. By the next day it didn't make any difference as the temperatures had dropped below the point at which the A/C was bothering to switch on its compressor. The A/C in my office is another matter as its both a very warm room to start with, and is stuffed with heat-emitting electronics, so the A/C unit there has been working steadily for the last few weeks.
All this is to say that what with my sleeping through the day by accident, and not actually waking up until 7:00 pm, the first indication that it had been a very warm day was when I stepped out of the nicely cool bedroom into a hot and muggy corridor leading to the bathroom and my office. I'm now drinking my second coffee and sitting in my nicely cool office as I type this.
And for all this I have to thank my Mom who made sure last summer that I had A/C units to keep me cool!
I should also mention, BTW, that I noticed yesterday that the $97 A/C units were on sale again at Reno Depot. I had planned to tell everyone before the weather got warm and they were all bought up, but it may already be too late.
