This time I've had a solid ten hours of sleep though. It feels good. Its not enough, of course. I don't bounce back from sleep deprivation like I once did. But if I can manage this for another night or two, I'll be back to normal.

Of course the inevitable flip-side of getting enough sleep after days without is that I woke up with a migraine trying to make an appearance. Luckily, (if you can call it that) I was pretty much expecting this and took some AC&C immediately along with some strong coffee. That should prevent it from becoming more than a slight throb. It doesn't hurt that the day is gray and overcast either so I don't have to hide from the light. On the other hand I should be fine by noon, so the clouds can all blow away by then, M'kay?

BTW, I sometimes wonder how I'd have coped if I lived in the states where AC&C (Asprin+Caffeine+Codeine) is not an over-the-counter drug. It would probably have taken me years longer to figure out that it was the perfect thing to handle my migraines.

Just wanted to take a brief pause to be jealous of [livejournal.com profile] azrhey and [livejournal.com profile] pphaneuf who are currently visiting [livejournal.com profile] skjalm in Copenhagen. I loved my trip there, even though I was kept so busy I got to do very little that was touristy. I didn't even get to meet [livejournal.com profile] skjalm because he was inexplicably in Australia at the time.

As Arnie would say: I'll be back.

I had plans today, really I did. I got up at 6:00 am and figured I'd try to get three major things done:

  1. Make a copy of some C++ code I've been looking at, and try to restructure it without breaking everything.
  2. Work on the skin template for the http://www.anticipationsf.ca website.
  3. Stucco the wall in the Basement.

Had I been sticking with my original plan of getting up at 5:00 am tomorrow to help out on BarCampMontreal, it would now be bedtime, but [livejournal.com profile] taxlady has called dibs on me and is making me help her with taxes tomorrow. In fact, that's pretty much what I did today.

What I actually accomplished was:

  1. Made a copy of some C++ code.
  2. Created a WordPerfect template for some labels [livejournal.com profile] taxlady needed.
  3. Printed labels and business cards.
  4. Started putting cards and labels on clients' tax forms.
  5. Was asked to modify labels.
  6. Printed up different labels.
  7. Finished putting cards and labels on clients' tax forms.
  8. Went shopping at Health Tree and the local depanneur.
  9. Cooked Supper.
  10. Filled the dishwasher and hand-washed a few items that didn't fit.

Since I am not yet going to bed my current plan is to do item #11: Print up more labels and cards to put in yet more client files I've been handed.

So, I got as far as getting ready to do item 1 on my agenda, although I hope I've been of some help to [livejournal.com profile] taxlady.

According to the LA Times, a McGill professor has found that singing can improve your health. It seems not only to reduce stress while increasing endorphin levels, but it also causes the body to produce dopamine and oxytocin, two chemicals associated with feelings of love, happiness and feeling good. And of course, it gives a bit of a workout to the respiratory system as well.
