Bright and Morning.
Nov. 3rd, 2006 09:20 amWell, its my second day in a row getting up reasonably early. I would have gone to bed earlier (and therefor gotten up earlier) but yesterday was the season premiere of Stargate SG-1's tenth season and I wanted to know how the cliffhanger ended.
Lets hope today's NaNoWriMo effort goes a bit better writing-wise than yesterday went. Actually, I'm pretty confidant of that. I struggled all day to write what now looks to be a rather turgid scene, but it has finally started to click, and it should be much simpler going from here on. Despite its rambling nature and some internal contradictions I feel there's a very good scene in there struggling to get out, and which could be revealed during a solid editing pass. Since that's all I'm looking for in November, that's good enough and I should be able to move on. I seriously thought about just skipping the scene by writing {{{stuff happens here}}} but one of my meta-purposes to NaNoWriMo is to find ways of working through the hard parts of writing, not just skipping over them. I already know I can produce 50,000 words in a month. Now I want to come up with coping mechanisms for when the writing gets difficult.
In other news I've been distracting myself from my writing by catching up on my SF shows. Whenever I need to let my muse mull over something for a bit, I watch some of the stuff I've been downloading. I'm almost caught up on "Heroes", and I've been loving it. Next I have most of season 3 of Atlantis on Queue as well as the end of last season and the beginnings of this in Battlestar Galactica. Lots of SF distraction. I find that watching SF does help inspire me to write, although sometimes its only by causing me to go "I can write better than this dreck!"
Finally, it looks like Terry is taking me out to breakfast this morning before he has to head in to town on business. We're probably going to try out the little creperie(sp?) that just openned nearby. They have buckwheat crepes which are (relatively) low carb, so I've been wanting to try them out. Of course, being at the end of the month I'm flat broke again, but as he's decided to pay, that's not an issue. Oops! He's ready to go, so I should post this and head out.
