Last night [livejournal.com profile] taxlady and I attended an excellent party at [livejournal.com profile] mricon's place, and had a great time. Met a lot of folks there, several for the first time. The only one of whom (AFAIK) has an LJ being [livejournal.com profile] baprime. It was also good to see [livejournal.com profile] diluvienne again. It had been too long.

We got home late, but not exceedingly so, and I made myself a snack and puttered around doing various things until roughly 6:00 am before going to bed. You'll notice I'm posting this around 7:30 am. That's because, as I type, a band of vicious roofers are REMOVING THE ROOF OVER MY HEAD. They are doing so in the loudest of possible ways to boot.

I'm finding it difficult to concentrate enough to type this, never mind sleep. So, that ONE HOUR will have to do for a bit as I shant get any sleep until they've removed the shingles from this section of the townhouse roofs and moved on to the next. I don't know if I'm hoping they'll remove them and immediately put some back so that they will be done with this bit, or if it would be better for them to denude the whole roof (which is something like 10 units) and then come back and shingle. The first would have the mayhem over soonest while the second (and more likely) would allow me to get a few hours sleep between one pass and the next. Faster yet would be if they had enough men to do the two passes in (almost) parallel, but I doubt they do.

I had known, vaguely, that there were plans to reroof this section of building sometime this year, but no one bothered to inform us it would be TODAY.

It can't last, but while it does, I'm heading for bed to catch Zzzzs while I can!

No Dice.

The Noise started up again the moment I lay down.

Well, that was certainly a Monday. Perhaps the most monday ever. In addition to being the last day of summer, there were the Roofers of Hell who ensured that I woke up not once, but at least three times today. In the end it turns out that putting a roof back on is slightly quieter than taking it off and I mostly managed to fitfully sleep through it, although I was roused by the occasional bump or bang.

It also appears that I was woefully remiss in working out the LJ names of folks at the party. It seems that a number of folks that I had gathered did not have LJ's did in fact have them. So, I just want to say hello to [livejournal.com profile] ze_dinosaur, [livejournal.com profile] scjody, and [livejournal.com profile] ejchang.

And on that note I guess I'm going to pretend I'm awake for a few hours before going to bed again. Talk about a non-productive day!
