When I am so tired that I collapse into sleep at 6:00 pm before even having any supper, I don't expect to suddenly awake at midnight. *sigh* I'm dead tired but my body is not letting me get back to sleep. I'll probably be up at least another couple of hours and then we'll see.

I'd have supper now, but my tummy is a bit queasy. I could have a bit of a bug, or it could be something I ate over the last few days of indulgences. Heck, it may be nothing more than my tummy complaining about those self-same indulgences.

Finally fell asleep around 5:00 am and slept through the alarm at 9:00 am. Got up groggily at 15:00 from stupid and disturbing broken dreams. Bleah. I've had a coffee and I'm still no more than a semi-evolved simian. Must get more coffee!

Is there a shorter term for the biological evolution of sexual dimorphism than that phrase? I was just thinking about a proposed alien species which is technically unisexual but mates in pairs. Evolutionary pressure is slowly driving the species into having two sexes with distnct specializations. What would one call this process?
