Debuggery and Such.

Spent the day tracing down a pernicious bug in the mailer software on webigail. Once ever month or so I get an email from foo@bar with no content, only two headers and nothing other than the From line and a anti-spam header.

Today I spent a bunch of hours figuring out where it came from and how. After chasing down some blind alleys I discovered that the script that handles the anti-spam filter eats the mail and outputs that result whenever the filter dies trying to process a mail. I recoded that section of the script, and from now on I'll get a reasonable diagnostic about what when wrong, attached to the original letter.  Now I just have to wait a month for it to happen again before I can figure out WHY the spam checker sometimes chokes.

In other news, I have updated my profile to more accurately show my schooling. I had a rich and varied edjumacation, I did!

The Blahs.

I seem to have a bit of the Blahs. I just woke up, and now I want to go back to bed. Of course, that feeling will have completely dissapated by the time its 9:00 pm and it would be a good idea to sleep. As a result I've only seen sunsets for the last 4 days. I don't like living in the dark.

Here's an article about a local Montreal company that has developed a microwave-based on-demand water heater that can replace old electric water heaters. Its smaller, uses less power, and you'll never run out of hot water again. I wonder how many megabucks they cost?
