Disasters continue to pile up.
Oct. 30th, 2005 10:00 amI'm posting this from
taxlady's computer because mine isn't working. I openned it up yesterday while working with
_sps_ to fix webigail, our mail/web server because I was looking for a missing stick of ram.
Well, it wasn't one of the ones installed in Binky (my machine) but when I put everything back and turned on the power, there was the distinct smell of burning plastic. We quickly turned the machine off and checked for damage, but nothing was obviously wrong. The ram were carefully reseated and we tried again.
It LOOKS like its trying to boot, but the screen never comes on. At this point I could have fried any one of a dozen things. Since we have limited time before the NaNoWriMo party today (and HOW am I going to write a novel without my own computer???), we're concentrating on getting webigail back together.
Once its working at least there will be ONE usable computer in my office. In the meantime, expect me to be hard to contact. By now my cell number is the best way to contact me if its important.
