I had a good day today, traipsing around IKEA with friends and looking at stuff and chatting. It was a lot of fun.

Despite all that, I'm sitting here feeling depressed over a number of things, and I should have been asleep something like 4 hours ago. In a couple of minutes I'll go back to bed and see if anything happens.

Gentleman, we can revitalize him. We have the Technology. We have the capability to make the worlds first fully caffinated man! Sti will be that man. More alert than he was before... more alert, more erratic, jitterier...."

... You get the picture.  Where's my coffee?

As I've said before, most of the technology that we want to put in the NWO system already exists or is being worked on. "All" we're adding is the infrastructure that makes it all play nicely together. As another example of that, here's some folks doing basic research on distributing web searches over the internet. This really is the only technology with the potential to scale as quickly as the internet grows. Even Google is having a hard time keeping up these days, and its only going to get worse.

Well, I just had another meeting with K, and it looks like I'm NOT going to be CTO of his company, if he ever gets it started. He says that all of the folks he's gone to for advice have told him that he needs a CTO with a masters degree or better (in WHAT is unspecified). I strongly suspect that the 'folks' are his mother, but that's neither here nor there. He says he will pay me $3000 for the work I've put in so far (if he ever gets any investment money) and that he is still interested in hiring me and/or pooq to do work for him once the company starts up.

So, in a nutshell, this job seems to have evaporated. I thought it sounded too good to be true. If he does manage to get some money together in the next 3-6 months, and pay me the $3K, then I'll be willing to discuss work with him, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

On to plan 'M'...

My sinuses just woke me from a happy dream. I went to bed early to catch up on my Zzzzzz's, and dreamt of friends and times long ago, or something like that.

The dream seemed to be set in and around a larger and more ellaborate version of the old house I lived in with my parents in Westmount, but the surrounding streets were a curious mixture of those of Westmount and Vancouver.

It seemed to be taking place a number of years ago, but featured driving bicycles around the city with linux clusters in backpacks. There were a number of folks that I recognized who I've known for a long time, plus a few new friends in different guises. There was one person who was clearly a mix of personalities taken from [livejournal.com profile] azrhey and two other folks I know. There was also an (at a guess) 16-year-old version of [livejournal.com profile] enaira riding one of those old banana-seat bikes with the tassles on the handle-bars...

I'm not sure where we were going, or why we had linux clusters in our backpacks, but it seems like we had some plan for good random fun.

I've been upright long enough. My sinuses have cleared and I'm heading back to bed. Gnight all!
