I like thunderstorms, but I don't much like what they can do to the electrical grid. We lost power for just a second around 9:00 pm, and the system was down for about 15 minutes while I waited for the storm to pass before restarting stuff, and then at 1:00 am, BOOM all the lights went out until around 3:30 am. The power was pretty flickery for a bit after it came back (it actually went off again for about 10 minutes at one point) so I've been hesitant to boot the systems, but we've now had power back for most of an hour, so I've brought everything back online.

And now, maybe I'll get me something to eat...

Some scientists recently 'discovered' that evolvability can evolve. I use the quotes not because I believe it, but due to sheer amazement that this was something that needed discovery. Evolution is just as much a law of physics as many others, and the laws of physics apply everywhere. Thus, you have to assume that whenever speed of adaptation is selected for, then it will evolve. How long will it take them to figure out that the evolution of evolvability can evolve as well???

This article doesn't have enough meat to let me figure out exactly how it works, but it sounds interesting.

Its a long read, but if this experiment proves to be correct, then the Copenhagen Interpretaion of Quantum Mechanics is dead, and I will most happily dance on its grave!

Just got up a little while ago, and I seem to be about half-way through rotating my hours. I'll probably be up until 4:00 or 6:00 pm tomorrow, and then sleep until the early hours on Friday. Meanwhile, I have coffee to drink and e-mail to catch up on, and the [livejournal.com profile] taxlady sez I should phoniculate the [livejournal.com profile] _sps_.

I have yet to get email notification of a bunch of comments people posted to my stuff yesterday. I thought that was supposed to be fixed now!
