Uh. Actually the title says about all I have to say so far...

Maybe I should wake up before posting?

I've often said that NWO will be better than the current web, because it will be based on semantics, not syntax. Now, we're by far not the only ones who want this. Actually anyone with any computer science background can see the utility of the one over the other. We are also, by far, not the only ones to propose to fix things with a semantic layer. How we differ from everyone else (as far as I can see) is that we think that back-compatibility is a a bad idea and that a new system, gatewayed to the old, is a much better plan.

Still, if you want to see what the potential for a semantic system is, even in the schemes where its just tacked on to the existing infrastructure, check out this article.

Its been obvious for a while that Dentistry was seriously behind the times with respect to medical science. Cavities and Gingivitis are disease states that should be cured by more effective techniques than the dental equivalents of radical surgery and amputation! Its been known for some time now that teeth are able to do a certain amount of regeneration and repari work on their own, and I've been waiting to see some announcements that the Dental community is starting to embrace techniques that take advantage of this.

Today, I read this article in wired about existing treatments that reverse tooth decay from caviites and proposed treatments that will eventually be able to regrow entire teeth.

According to an article, some researchers have found that regular drinking of up to half a bottle of wine per day can lead to increased mental agility, especially if you're female!

So, I didn't post much this weekend due to the fact that both [livejournal.com profile] _sps_ and [livejournal.com profile] azrhey were here for a visit. First time we've had multiple guests in months. It sure was nice to chat and just hang around with friends. I don't seem to do that enough anymore! Hmm. I only just noticed though that we never did have that dip in the swimming pool that I promised [livejournal.com profile] azrhey. Oh well, I guess it will have to wait until next time.

In other news, the current mail system setup is 99.44% working. I haven't yet tried all the permutations and combinations of things yet, but all of the hard cases that I was worried about seem to be working fine. Yay me!
