I'm still awake. Sometimes that happens when my sleep is interrupted. I don't know why. Anyway, I've had a snack and switched monitors on [livejournal.com profile] taxlady's machine and our webserver, (so if you noticed the server was down for a bit, that's why), and now I think I wanna try the sleep thing again. Gnight again!

Doldrums.

Well, I've tried going back to bed a few times. I'm very tired, but I can't seem to fall asleep. I don't know why. Oh well, I guess I'll surf the net for a bit, and then try again.

Well, I finally slept, but I'm awake again. It suddenly occurred to me just before I finally drifted off, just what the problem might have been last night.

When I woke up I mentioned taking a headache remedy. Since the headache was severe, and sleeping when over tired is one of my migraine triggers, I took some AC&C, which is what I take when I feel a migraine coming on. The second C in AC&C is for Caffeine. Used to be that much wouldn't affect me, but now that I don't get any in my coffee, I guess it was enough to prevent me falling back asleep again. I suppose I'll just have to remember for now on, that if I'm not getting up immediately, nasty headaches get treated with ibuprofen. Bleah.

Anyway, I got two blocks of 4 hours, so technically I've now had 8, but my body can't add, so it feels like I've had four. Actually thats not to bad, since I wanted to be up between 5:00 am and 6:00 am tomorrow (I made an early appointment, on the assumption that it would be late for me. I had planned to be waking no later than 4:00 am on Thursday). I suspect my body will be quite willing to sleep come 8:00 or 9:00 pm.

For now though, I need to sit here and drink more coffee.

Orkut?

Here's a simple question to everyone who's in my Orkut friends list. Do you ever use Orkut? If so, for what?

The reason I ask is that it doesn't seem terribly useful as currently set up. I think I know what the inventor was trying for, and I think he failed. I log in once a week or so, and check out the useless emails I get. I haven't gotten any spam, but I'm not sure its worth my while to wade through broadcast posts in spanish asking for brazillian LJ users who know anything about nanotech...

In other news, I got Ximian to (finally) talk to courier-imap. Yay! Now I'm beginning to think that I'll be awake enough to work on Postfix today. It certainly cool enough in the office now.

But first things first: Breakfast!

Sleep?

I don't wanna jinx myself, but I'm planning to head off to bed soon, since I have a 10:00 am appointment (with my banker), and I want to have been awake for 2-3 hours before it starts so that I will have some alertness. I figure that if I go to bed now, and actually fall asleep, it won't be a problem.

As for the day I had, its been fairly good. I did a bunch of configuring in Linux, although I had to curse quite a while to find out how to configure X when you don't have X running, and there are no published specs for your graphic system...  In the end I was saved because I made a syntax error in the X86Config-4 file, and Mandrake popped up a copy of a console-based video setup debugger. I knew such a thing existed, but had been able to find any documentation on it anywhere, or any indication of what it might be called. Even knowing its called XFdrake, I couldn't find any docs on it. All this because I swapped monitors to one that can't do 1280x1024, and can't talk -- whats the monitor communication protocol called? DRS? Anyway, that.

I suspect there MUST be some way to tell a booting linux that its hardware has changed and you would like to see the configurator again, but I couldn't find any docs on such a thing either.

Oh well, so I didn't get as much done on Postfix as I wanted, but I did manage to get Ximian going, so its all good.

I know I said I would go to bed now, but I decided to read some of my email backlog to help me feel sleepy.

One article I came across says how neurologists have managed to create a strain of mouse which has neurons that light up when in use, thus making it far easier to determine which neurons are involved in which kind of activites...

Yet once more again, it turns out that [livejournal.com profile] _sps_ was right all along. This is getting monotonous ;-)
