I am the Snooze
May. 13th, 2004 03:47 pmDespite a concerted effort on my part not to, every day I've been falling asleep later and later and waking up even later. Today I slept in until 3:00 pm. I've had this sleep-cycle drift my entire life and the only two ways I know to deal with it are:
1) Accellerate it to the point that I'm getting up so late its now early. While doing that though, I'm completely out of synch with the rest of the world.
2) Try to get by on only 4 or 5 hours sleep a night for as long as it take for me to finally collapse and sleep after only having been up for a few hours. While I'm doing THAT I'm loopy from lack of sleep, it can take several WEEKS of sleep deprivation to have it happen, and sometimes it only works for one day.
So, normally I prefer 1), but when I'm working at a 9-5 job I often have to rely upon 2). Its always bothered me that most bosses are more concerned with you arriving every day at 9:00 am than they are with you actually being awake enough to get any work done. Now that I'm not working I would normally choose 1), but the timing is bad because its so close to the weekend, and I need to be on a more normalish schedule by then.
Oh well, I guess I'm just gonna try #2 for a few days, and will switch to #1 early next week if need be.

Friending Cartoonists.
May. 13th, 2004 04:38 pmSo, in a spirit of comradery and what-the-fuck-ishness I've gone and friended
howardtaylor, the author of the online webcomic Schlock Mercenary, one of my favorite bits of online entertainment. I did a quick check, and (much to my surprise) there isn't a LJ user named 'sgt_shlock' (although 'schlock' is taken by the Schlock Writing Team), nor is there a 'Tagon'.
I suspect this may change soon.
