I should have been asleep hours ago. In fact, I did go to bed around 1:00 am, but it didn't do much good. So, I've been surfing the net and stuff, trying to get sleepy. It seems to be starting to work, so I think I'll go back to bed now.

I have to get up around 10:00 am tomorrow, because I want to be up at 8:00 am on Tuesday and Wednesday. I certainly don't want to go to an interview all bleary-eyed, so I'd rather take the hit for not enough sleep either tomorrow or tuesday, if it means I fall asleep tuesday night. Here's hoping.

Just give me 10 minutes alone with the guy that invented monrings. That's all I ask. 10 minutes and you can wheel away whatever is left of him....

Grumble.

Didn't sleep a lot last night. Hence the dire grumbles this morning. Since I find that Sti needs his sleeps or he's not creative, I pretty much spent the day doing mindless (but necessary) tasks, like cleaning the office, finishing ripping some CD's so I could put them away, tossing out documentation for Atari ST software that was long out of date before I got rid of my ST some 12 or more years ago, and so on.

The office cleaning also turned up an ISA plug-and-play LAN card that I had not realized I had. Its only a 10MB/s card, but by rearranging things so that it talks to my 3MB/s DSL modem, instead of the 100MB/s card that is doing that now, it should allow me to set up the new server on a fully isolated net segment and give everyone on THIS side of the firewall full speed access.

I also got a phone call from Mom. She's back now from my Uncle Alex's funeral. Its looking like he died of a sudden heart attack. The doctor said he'd probably had 2 or 3 small ones earlier, and hadn't figured out what they were. Heart attacks are endemic in the men on my Mother's side of the family, so I suppose that's even more reason for me to go on Atkins and try to lose some weight.

It also looks like my Mom plans to have my two brothers and I split a part of her share of the inheritance. My share will go a long way towards paying off our debts, and it will probably be enough so my parents can finally retire properly. I'm both grateful for the money that will (eventually -- after the estate is settled) come my way, and feeling rather ghoulish about the very idea of inheriting money from a dead uncle. I guess I still don't know what to think about this.

So, maybe I'm not so uncreative today as all that. After my last post I went downstairs to cook supper for [livejournal.com profile] taxlady and I. While I was doing so, I wrote a screenplay. Well, not literally wrote, since I was cooking, but I have characters and a plot. It wasn't so hard, because I started with the notion of updating and adapting the "Wizard of Oz" movie.

It seems my plan to be sleepy so I can sleep is working! I'm starting to feel all lethargic and bedtimey right now.

All I gotta do before hitting the sack is put a new load of dishes in the washer and start it up. Then, lights out!
