Wot a Day!

Today was so busy that I never got around to my first priority task (although there is evidence it has now slipped to second).

I got up at 1:00 pm and read my comics and email. I then spent the next 3 hours researching business ideas. Then [livejournal.com profile] taxlady reminded me I had promised to help her buy groceries today. So, I had my shower, we made up a list, and we were out the door at 5:00 pm. We managed to beat the evening rush, and got our stuff bought and were back home by 6:00.

I then made a phone call to see if I could interest a friend in this business idea. It seems to have gotten a positive reception.

No sooner was I off the phone than a friend showed up to relieve [livejournal.com profile] taxlady of a bunch of old Atari ST computers that have been gathering dust in the basement for 10 years. While he was still here, I got a phonecall from [livejournal.com profile] _sps_ and we ended up talking about the business idea for an hour. He had some useful analysis of the numbers I had come up with.

I got off the phone just in time to help pile the computers and stuff in the garage for transportation. Now that is all finished, and I can
actually start work on what I had originally planned to work on today. Only, it seems that its midnight already.

Oh well, even if what I'm trying to do here has slipped to priority No 2, [livejournal.com profile] _sps_ pointed out that its work that we'll probably need for the new project, so finishing it matters. Besides, while gathering data is going on, I can be working on this job.

Now I think I'll officially call it a day, workwise. Any that gets done at this point is a bonus...

Yawnies.

Not quite awake yet, but working on it. More exiting news as events transpire.

A news item today states that the latest issue of American $20 bills contains RFID tags that can be used to track money. Read more here.

Later: my bad. I should have read the above while fully awake. Its fairly clear that the 'RFID' sensors at the store were just the standard RF sensors used by most stores today. They were detecting the metal threads in the bills. Putting all the bills in the stack and microwaving them set those same metalic threads on fire...

No Bush!

Spent the day looking for solutions to some problems that I imagine I've imagined. So, I think I'll go back to CSX for a bit. In the meantime I decided I should finally get around to adding folks to my friends list that I met at the last LJ Meetup. Yeah, so I'm not exactly speedy. Anyway, in the end I only added [livejournal.com profile] metawidget since most of the folks there were already on my friends list, and the others had journals I can't read, so there's no point adding them.

Speaking of adding folks, I'm also surprised to add [livejournal.com profile] nineashe back to my friends list. I was somewhat hurt when she cut off the world a few months back, but in all fairness I've had good friends freak out worse than that on me, and I've never held a grudge. Why should I do so with someone who has a far weaker emotional hold on me? Besides, I find her journal interesting to read and I was vaguely hoping she might one day become an actual friend instead of merely a name on a list so labeled. The clincher, of course, was the following image that she posted, and that I stole from her:

Not Work Friendly )

I do like her sense of humor.
