Whimper...

I woke up with a nasty migraine this morning. Actually, it woke me several times in the night too, but I was too tired to manage to go and get some medicine. That's never a good sign. Since getting up I've had some AC&C (222's) and two cafes-au-lait, but my head is still throbbing and I'm still photosensitive. Still, things aren't as bad as when I woke up.

The throbbing is now just a faint dull ache, and will hopefully be completely gone in another hour or so. In the meantime I'm sitting in my darkened office with the contrast low on my monitor. This makes things tollerable except for the occasional foray to the kitchen for more tea.

One of the many things I came across during my stay here is Scientific Americans list of the Top Tech (ie Geek) gifts for this holiday season. I rather like the beaker-mug and the plush microbes myself... Then again the digitial binoculars with built-in camera is the perfect gift for the voyeur in your life.

Uhhhhh.

Okay, am I allowed to think that my migraine is causing me massive hallucination? Please? You see, the last few days have been a bit surreal with respect to old friends.

First, on my birthday I got a nice "Happy Birthday" from LB. I haven't seen her is 6 months or so, but we keep in touch. It was nice to think that she remembered my birthday, what with her harried schedule and all.

Then, I got a second birthday e-mail from none other than PGM. This is an old, old friend who I hadn't heard from since 1998. I had send him a few e-mails but never got a reply. Well, a little checking on google revealed that he had massive spam problems due to a piece of shareware he released a few years ago. No wonder he didn't answer my mail. He probably never saw them in the dreck.

So, that having been a success, I wondered if maybe I could find out whatever happened to E-the-P, a friend and once co-worker that I last saw just a couple of months before my marriage in 1997. Even then I was shocked by the changes in him. He had gone from ill-dressed slob to neatly-groomed suit-wearing guy. Well, I found he has his own web site now. I was both surprised and shocked that he has now "found" God, and has become an author of Techno-thrillers... He has ALWAYS surprised me, but this takes the cake.
