Last Tuesday's Meetup.
May. 1st, 2004 09:33 amI promised I would post about Tuesday's meetup, but a million-and-one things kept me too busy until now, so here it is, better late than never.
I should start off by saying that while not one of the best attended meetups ever, it was certainly not the worst either. Although I knew all but one person by sight, I thought I would pass the LJ meetup list around so it could be made official. Its a good thing I did too, because although I only counted six folks physically present, eleven signed the sheet. I would have entered all of their names here, but I don't know how to enter some of the names in this posting client, so I'll just include a scan of the sign-up sheet:

As you can see, several strange folks were in attendance, which is normally a very good thing if one wants to have a fun meetup. One problem is that 'Mark' seems to have given a fake name. Nobody knew him, and he insisted that 'Mark' was both his real and his LJ name. Now there is an LJ user named
mark but it seems really unlikely that they're the same person.
I suspect that he saw the LJ Meetup signs and just decided to crash whatever strange party we were having, prolly because 3 out of 5 of us were female. Kinda creepy if you ask me!
Anyway, the Fake Mark soon left and so, by my count, we were left with
swestrup ,
_sps_ ,
nancyrihakova ,
denizsarikaya , and
kalkuly, and much hilarity and merriment ensued. In the end we headed out for munchies together, and then ended up at the Old Dublin where we were met by
azrhey , who had had to work until then. By the time we'd all had a round of beers, it was time to head home. So, now I am eagerly awaiting the next meetup, so long as there aren't any more fake LJ'ers!
Plan for next meeting: Everyone bring rotten tomatoes and fishheads. Someone will be designated checker, and will bring a laptop with wireless connection. If you can't answer a few simple questions about your own LJ account, we pummel you with offal! Actually, I don't think such a thing is necessary, as I doubt we'll have a repeat gatecrasher, but I sure found it wierd.
