Well, Lenny just broke VLC. They just updated the latest version in testing and as I'd been complaining about its seek bar being wonky, I downloaded it and did an install. Bad move. Now it refuses to play any videos because its incompatible with its own libffmpeg library. I would downgrade back to the version I was using, except it doesn't seem to be in any of the repositories anymore...

So, if its not fixed in a few days (some Googling has shown that its a known problem, at least in the VLC camp), I guess I'll have to download the latest source and compile it myself.

You may want to have a quick check, old .debs tend to hang out in the apt cache. Look for the old working version in /var/cache/apt/archives. And if you ever start to run mysteriously low on disk space, try running apt-get clean to clean said archive out.
