I'm still sick, so I didn't go to work today. I may not go tomorrow if I don't start feeling better soon.

Meanwhile it turns out my laptop has a rootkit on it. This is hard to fix when all I have to work with is my laptop.

I'm also trying to find a Live CD that works well with this laptop. Ubuntu'd live CDs run waaaay toooooo sloooooooow on this old (vintage 2000) laptop.

Knoppix runs much faster but doesn't recognize my graphics card, so I'm stuck at 800x600 resolution right now as I type this.

Zenwalk should work fine, but I can't get it to boot, despite the fact that I had it booting once before on this machine. I may just try to download and burn a new image, but that will be somewhat difficult to do from a live CD.

Was the laptop that got the rootkit running Windows by any chance? Or do us Linux users need to start worrying?
