Awake too late.
Apr. 21st, 2008 03:07 pmI'm just NOW awake because I stayed up until 6:00 am reading Terry Pratchett's The Last Hero. I was unexpectedly gifted with a copy at
messiahdivine's birthday party. Its one of the few Discworld-related books I didn't have because it is large and illustrated and I couldn't afford it when it came out. Its not a long book and even though I was savouring each page and reading through the design notes of Leonard of Quirm, I'm about halfway through it now.
I must say, in most cases I'm not fond of having my books illustrated. Neither the canonical look of Rincewind or the Luggage match the images in my head. That said, this book is gloriously illustrated and most of the pictures add to the experience for me, rather than detracting, which is a rare thing in an illustrated book.
No doubt I shall be up far too late tonight as well, finishing it.
