Migraine Day.
Apr. 17th, 2008 09:13 amWas woken up by the head-pounding of an incipient migraine. This almost never happens to me, as my migraines usually start very shortly after I wake up, and I would not normally have been waking up after only 6 1/2 hours of sleep. Still, there was no denying the hurting in my head, and despite how tired I was, I knew that trying to go back to sleep would have been a Very Bad Idea™.
So, instead, I dragged myself out of bed, took some AC&C and made myself an espresso with the last of the cream in the house. I'm now having a second espresso with most of the last of the milk in the house (notice a theme here?) and I'm already feeling much better. The head still hurts, but its now only a dull ache.
I'm still wondering about what caused the migraine though. One of my main triggers is having enough sleep after going without for too long. Admittedly I've been going a bit short on sleep lately to try to force my body to fall asleep at night and wake up around this time of the morning, but this is usually safe as it generally requires me to sleep 10 or more hours for a migraine to kick in. Then again, if I've been going on 5 or 6 hours for a few days and then have 8, it can trigger one.
Still, I'm wondering if maybe I can also get a migraine from a sudden release of stress. I was extremely stressed the day before yesterday, and I spent yesterday doing things which very noticeably reduced my stress levels. I'll have to keep an eye on that. After all, knowing my migraine triggers is the first step in being able to deal with them.
