Over the last week, I've started to notice the occasional 'glitch' in the operation of my computer monitor. Every now and then (every few days) theres a sound like static and a ripple runs down the side of the screen. This is the exact same symptom that presaged the death of my last monitor. In that case it took a few months before the monitor was unusable. Unlike that time, when I had no spare monitors, I already have a pair that I can choose from as replacements, and I know where I can get more for $20 or less each.  So, not a worry, but I am wondering if there is something in my office that kills monitors.

It could conceivably be the power in your office.

On that note, I take it you no longer have any need for more monitors, e.g. my 19" CRT.

I had a UPS go bad and kill a monitor, power supply, and motherboard. A friend had serial ports fail in every machine he set up in his kitchen. It's certainly possible.
