Two Timing.

Right now I'm shuttling back and forth between my backup system and the new main system. This is because the former has at least a minimal set of software on it, and most of my bookmarks, while the latter is faster and easier to use, but has no software as of yet.

I had planned to get up early and get some configuring done before going out to visit sps today. Instead I slept in, for the first time in ages. Probably this was due to staying up late working on the new computer, and chatting with Terry, who's visiting with us for a while.

I guess this means that most of the software installation is going to happen either this evening or, more likely, tomorrow.

Did you try moving the hard drive from the failed system to the new one and booting from it?

Definitely NOT. Windows will freak and decide to install hundreds of new drivers on top of my old system partition if I do that.

No, I'm going to mount it as a secondary drive and then just copy the data I want over.
