Snow Day.

Well, the major snowfall they promised for yesterday evening appears to have arrived in the middle of the night. There seems to be quite a lot of fluffy accumulation everywhere, and my office is illuminated by the lovely soft white light that is so characteristic of snow diffusion.

As nice as it is to look at, I'm somewhat glad that I don't have to be anywhere until 7:00 pm this evening, so there'll be some chance for the snow removal folks to do some clearing before I head out. Although, realistically, I expect it will be 2-3 days before they manage to get around to doing the sidewalks.

Roads get priority after large snows, of course, and sidewalks come later. Plus it takes them some time to get back in form for snow clearing at the start of the season. The first few major dumps are handled far slower than the later ones of the season.

You know, it feels kind of strange to be having a 'typical' winter for a change. The last 5-10 years have been unexpectedly mild and with relatively little snow, falling late in the season. This winter has hit harder and faster than most recent ones.
