I stayed up until almost 7:00 am finishing up "Perdido Street Station" by China Mieville. I don't know how much I actually liked the novel, but it had been ages since I indulged myself in a good long read like that. I probably liked it well enough to borrow the sequel from the library, but I don't know that I'll become a Mieville fan anytime soon. The story was just a bit too... contrived and inconsistent for me.
I usually like stories where they try to blend fantasy and technology together, but it helps to have some grasp of the fundamentals of the technology. I expect physical explanations of things to make sense, thank you very much!
