Well, I've woken up. Had a dream about coming home and finding that the ice on the icy sidewalk had been carved into little regular shapes that made for easier walking, and spent some time speculating on what sort of new snow-removal apparatus might have done that. The dream is significant only because its the first one I can remember in which my dream home is this place. I've dreamed I was still/again living in most of my old homes and I've dreamed about living in places I've never seen, but I can't remember any previous dreams about living here.
In other news I've gone and installed Compiz-Fusion as my display manager. Not yet decided if I want to keep it or not, as its rather buggy. I've had it crash on me a number of times (leaving me without window decorations), its handling of multiple desktops often needs resetting, it forgets that panels are supposed to always be on top, and lately its been opening windows in the wrong locations (ie, I close a window that's maximized, and when I reopen it, is the same size but starting half-way down the screen.) Oh, and I'm REALLY not happy about how it rewrote my xorg.conf on installation so that everything broke and I had to go back and fix it by hand.
So far I'm not sure if the extra eye-candy and few extra features of Compiz is worth the hassle, but I'm giving it a fair chance.
