It seems that moths can remember life as a caterpillar. This is doubly amazing when you realize that the central nervous system of the caterpillar is dissolved and reformed into that of the moth, and yet somehow can still store memories. I'm actually really glad to read about this, as I once designed an alien whose nervous system was continuously undergoing similar restructuring, and I just did some hand-waving and said it maintains its memories anyway. So now I at least know its a plausible scenario, even if I don't have the slightest clue as to how the trick is done.
