Not unexpectedly, the fact that I had to take three AC&C last night kept me up until 5:00 am this morning. One of those 'C's stands for Caffeine after all. So, the fact that I woke up by myself at noon is a bit of a surprise. Still, I woke up out of a restful sleep so I didn't see any need to try to grab a few more winks.

I'm not sure if I dreamed or not, but I awoke to thoughts of [livejournal.com profile] thebabynancy, Robert Palmer and old-time rock and roll.

So far this morning I've been drinking coffee and doing some research on migranes. It does indeed appear that what hit me last night was a migraine, despite it not being caused by my usual triggers, and having a different set of symptoms than is usual for me. I had not known (until a few minutes ago) that intense sinus pain is a common migraine symptom.

Nor did I realize that cranial vascular over- (or under-) dilation is no longer seen as a primary cause of the pain, but is more often now seen as a symptom of an entirely neurological condition in which a generalized cortical depression leads to the release of imflamatory agents which affect nerves in the head, especially the trigeminal nerve.

It still doesn't help me figure out what triggered yesterdays event though. I suppose I shall just have to keep alert for incipient symptoms of it happening again.

I also wasn't aware that there are common treatments that involve ice-cream and cannabis.

Ugh.

My sinuses just started throbbing again. Maybe another migraine, maybe not, but I'm not taking any chances. I'm going with the anti-migraine stuff now, and hopes that nips it in the bud.

Argh!!!

I was just taking the back off of my watch to check what type of battery it takes (its been needing a new battery for weeks) and I accidentally knocked over the tray that held all the screws that hold it together. They scattered to the four corners of my office, and I haven't been able to find even one. Without them, I don't have a watch.

Its not like I didn't need to replace my watch anyway, its been on my to-do list for years, but I can't exactly afford to go buy a new one right now either. Today is not looking like a keeper. I just may draw the curtains and hide for the rest of the day.

Urgh.

I wonder if I'm coming down with something. I'm sitting here in my office and feeling chilled. Now, I admit that's not the strangest thing in the world, considering the air-conditioner is going, but I'm currently fully clothed. I'm usually in here wearing either nothing or just a bath robe, and its fine.

Now I'm going to go put some more layers on.

So, ONE thing did go right today. I made myself a supper using the last of the hamburger and the last of the frozen veggies. (There really wasn't enough left to feed two people, so it worked out well that Terry is out tonight and [livejournal.com profile] taxlady wasn't interested.)

I'm not sure how I managed to get the proportions exactly right when cooking for one, since all my experience with the two dishes I cooked (Philly Hash and Veggies Masala, if you care) were with cooking for 2 or 3 people. Today I was cooking for one and I wasn't sure it was even a good idea, since my appetite has been here-then-gone all day.

Anyway, I cooked it, and I ate it, and boy am I glad I did! It came out exactly right, and I loved it!

Anyway, I just thought I should share that.
