Sometimes it seems that I haven't made it through one crisis before another hits. Not long after returning from taking
blacksquiggles,
xipetotec and family out for supper in thanks for taking care of the house while we were away, we noticed a dripping leak in the dining room ceiling. Now, that ceiling was already damaged from a leaky roof caused by the ice storm, and seeing as the dining room is directly below the upstairs bathroom, I've always suspected that the problem could have been compounded by any number of possible leaks from the bathroom.
Well, a quick check upstairs failed to show any sign of trouble in the bathroom, or other upstairs rooms, and seeing as how the drip wasn't stopping and the gyprock was noticable wet and bowing down, we decided to cut away a small portion of the ceiling to see what the matter was. Of course, to do this we had to move a mountain of books because the dining table is still piled with everything we failed to sell during our yard sale and which we didn't have time to deal with before heading out to Denmark.
To make a long story short, most of the dining room ceiling was so sodden, and so much crap gyprock was stacked hidden inside the ceiling that once we cut away a reasonable portion, most of the ceiling came down. We've sort-of cleaned up the mess, and we now have a bucket under the remaining leak.
Said leak is dripping through a hole in the subfloor above, so we STILL don't know what's wrong. Whatever it is, it will probably require major excavation of either the dining-room ceiling or the upstairs bathroom to find and fix. All this is on top of the fact that the downstairs power room toilet started leaking like a sieve a week or so before we had to go to Denmark, so we don't even have a backup toilet.
Somehow we need to:
Somebody just shoot me. I'm currently at my wits end and have absolutely no idea how we're going to fix ANY of this with us being so far in debt as is.

Somehow we need to:
- find and fix a leak in the vicinity of the upstairs bathroom.
- fix the downstairs toilet
- repair the ceiling in the dining room and repaint.
