Morning came far too early today.  I have just a couple of hours to get myself awake and on a bus headed downtown for another of those morning business meetings.

Writing this business plan has really gotten me down, since the more that I've worked on it, the less likely the whole prospect has seemed. Its hard to articulate my thoughts, but if we don't have know anyone in the avionics business who's willing to help write the thing, then we're getting off on the wrong foot entirely.

I'm going to air my misgivings with K today, and see what he has to say.

Many years ago, [livejournal.com profile] _sps_ and I worked on the design for a real-time strategy war game. It had many unique features, some of which have now hit the market. One idea we had was to increase efficiency by having the main game engine write forth code to represent configuration options for units. That way, when you invented a new type of unit ("I'm gonna put a SAM missile launcher on a Jeep!"), instead of having to scan the configuration data structures for that unit every time it had to move or act, it would scan it once, at build time, and write a forth program to represent it. From then on, it would just call the forth code to handle it.

So far as I know, no one is yet doing this, but someone has actually gotten around to writing a fourth engine that can be embedded in C programs. Of course, the prototype forth engine we had at the time was markedly faster than any other implementation we had ever seen, so I don't know we would have used this library, had it existed back then. Still, seeing this website brought back memories.

I seem to have woken up. The brain is actually... braining? Okaaaay, maybe the status lights are all green, but it looks like it needs a few thumps to unstick. Anyway, I am as awake and/or alert as I am likely to get before my 10:00 am meeting, for which, by brain tells me, I should wear some clothes. So, off I go to do that, and then catch a bus. Now, where'd I put that net?

Home Again.

Just got back from another business meeting and some more studying in the library. I am now the very tired, so I'm gonna go over there, and lie down now, okay?
